Why your hairdresser is right…….

Standard

Have ever looked in a magazine, seen a pic of someone and thought to yourself:

He/she looks cool, I LOVE their hair…….I want that hairstyle……

You book your appointment and strut into the salon all ready & fired up for your new look, and after your discussing it, your hairdresser tells you……………

It’s not for you!

Gutted!

This is often because your professional stylist knows that you simply cannot reproduce the same look yourself.

It’s perhaps just not a manageable style for you to have to deal with on a daily basis.

So if you did go for this new style, you’d maybe look great for that day (with the help of your stylist) but what would you do when left to style/maintain it yourself?

>Would you end up in a worse position in terms of your lovely locks?

The same logic applies to your health & fitness goals:

I pretty confident I could get you to do A LOT more than you may currently be doing in the gym in terms of intensity, and you would definitely step out your comfort zone, however:

If you can’t consistently reproduce this yourself, what’s the point?

>Anyone can train hard once.

BUT:

>Nobody got in great shape by doing just one intense workout.

If the intensity cannot be matched/reproduced, I’d suggest you’d be better scaling it down to a more manageable level.

You need a find a level of intensity that challenges you but also allows you to build a foundation of progression.

Your hairdresser and I have your best interests in mind, and we are both thinking about your long term happiness and success.

If you need a hand in establishing a routine that you CAN stick to, give me a shout.

That’s all for today, until the next time,

P.P.S – I’ve had some absolute shockers ha

Breaking up after one argument……..

Standard

>Chances are that at some point you have had an argument with your other half?

Did you break up immediately after this one single argument?

>Chances are that at some point you have disagreed with a friend?

Did you immediately sack this friend off and remove them from your life?

>Chances are that at some point you have cracked or damaged your phone?

Did you then throw your phone against the wall, smashing it to pieces?!

>Chances are you have burnt the tea at some point?

Did you then torch the entire kitchen?!

>Chances are that at some point you have had a flat tyre?

Did you then get out the car and slash the other 3 tyres?!

I bet you have been guilty of self-sabotaging when it comes to your goals though?

Eg: you’ve had a long day hectic day, you skip the gym, and by the time you sit down to eat you are tempted by your favourite trigger food…………

You indulge…..

Big time……..

And then some….

You eat more, not because you particularly want it, but because you have come this far and the damage is done, so you may as well right?

Diet starts again on Monday? No point starting before is there?

If this happens because it’s just a bad day, that’s fine as nothing, if done in isolation will ruin your progress completely.

However, I invite you to ask yourself if your actions are linked to a lack of self-belief?

Deep down, do you truly believe you can achieve your goals?

If you don’t truly believe in your ability to succeed, you will find and create examples to support your doubts, and you will tell yourself:

>’This won’t work’…

>’I can’t do this’…

>’I’m too busy right now’…

>’I’m just not ready yet’…

>’I’m not good enough’…….

>’I’m useless/I’m lazy’…………..

You are the sum of what you do the most of……………

>One bad day doesn’t have to become a bad week………

>One bad week doesn’t have to become a bad month….

>One bad month doesn’t have to become a bad 3 months……….

Etc

Etc

Etc

Remember this:

Rituals and routines get results………..

Stop giving up on yourself and start believing in yourself,

P.S – sorry I haven’t been in touch recently busy, but happy times.

If you play by the same hand……..

Standard

If you play by the same hand, how will you find something new?

Now I’m the first to admit, change can be very off putting.

I often cite 2014 as a year when my life was nothing but change, & it was very tough at times.

During that time I lost focus, lost direction, questioned myself, even partly lost sight of who I am along the way…

Does any of this sound familiar to you? Have you ever felt like this?

………when you KNOW that you can’t keep doing the same thing and you HAVE to change?

BUT the change is scary isn’t it?

It can be hard to embrace the new… I get it.

I can throw a million clichés at you; I can tell you that it gets easier with time or that you will adjust, etc. etc.…..

We’ve all seen the countless motivational quotes plastered all over Facebook & Instagram…..

> They are all well & good, but do they actually have an impact?

> Do they actually help you?

What I invite you to do is focus on what is wrong right now….now focus on the pain of remaining the same…..

> If you DON’T change, what will happen?

> Where will your current pathways lead you?

Rather than just ‘thinking positively’, consider the consequences of NOT changing….

Only when the pain of remaining the same far outweighs the pain of change can we can start to move forward and embrace the change……..

That’s all for today, until the next time,

Tristan ‘SOOOOOOOOOOOO much happier now’ Buttle.

P.S –Trust me when I say you CAN make change, & you CAN move forward……..and that I will help you as much I can…your current situation doesn’t have to be your story.

P.P.S – Sorry I haven’t been in touch as much recently, you’ll be hearing from me again soon.

Does your ‘diet start again tomorrow’?

Standard

Does your ‘diet start again tomorrow’?

In your mind, have you been ‘bad’ or ‘fallen off the wagon’ this weekend?

Starting tomorrow, is this week going to be different?

> What changes are you going to make?

> Most importantly, what changes are you going to be able to stick to?

How is this week going to be TRULY different to any other week?

What action can you take to put yourself one step closer to achieving your goals?

Consider this, what is greater?

The pain of change?
OR
The pain of remaining the same?

What will happen if you don’t change?

Why not make this week truly different?

Trust me when I say you CAN change.

That’s all for today, until the next time.

Is ‘healthy’ food making you gain bodyfat?

Standard

‘It’s good for you’……………….

You’ve heard it before, somebody is describing or selling the benefits of a certain food group to you and they tell you how ‘healthy’ it is……

I’m not denying the health properties of certain foods, and the inclusion of these foods can be of benefit to you.

However some foods can become over hyped and all too often one MAJOR factor becomes lost in transaction……………………..

CALORIES!!!

I’ve said it before and I will keep saying it: calories DO count!

It doesn’t how ‘healthy’ those calories may happen to be, an excess intake will STILL cause weight gain.

Foods that typically fall into this bracket include:

>Nuts

>Coconut Oil (and any other oil for that matter)

>Nut butters (doesn’t matter how ‘natural’ or ‘organic’ it is, calories STILL count…)

>Dried Fruits

>Honey

>Granola

The list goes on, but these are the typical choices that I see the most of.

Nuts are a classic example, 25g of walnuts equates to a small handful but typically gives you around 175kcal.

If you aren’t careful, ‘snacking’ on nuts can easily rack up an additional 500 -600kcal a day!

Keep in mind, that all of the above choices are also very easy to overeat on…

I’m not saying these foods are bad, far from it, I am saying that you need to be mindful of the caloric value when you include any of them into your diet.

Remember that too much of ANY food choice will result in weight gain….

That’s all for today, until the next time,

Tristan ‘had to stop buying peanut butter’ Buttle.

p.s – I’ve been using powdered peanut butter recently, but more on that another day…………….

I tried to make it sexy…….

Standard

So, on Monday I changed the format of my emails that I send out to help people…..

I changed the layout.

I changed the colour scheme.

Why?

I had convinced myself that my usual format was boring, that it was bland, that it needed spicing up, and needed to be sexier!

So I changed it…

The result?

The general feedback was that it detracted from my words and was ultimately harder to read.

If it’s harder to read, it’s harder to digest and therefore it’s harder to action.

One person (whose opinion I really value) actually said it hurt her eyes!

So from today, I have gone back to basics, and back to my original layout.

This whole situation reminded me of the fitness industry….

All too often, I see trainers and companies trying to ‘dress up’ a training style or a particular approach to nutrition, and in the process they forget the basics.

It doesn’t matter how ‘sexy’ a training plan is, if you can’t follow it or stick to it, what’s the point?

Same with my email design, it doesn’t matter how much I try to make it stand out, if it doesn’t get read, what’s the point?

Everything with my approach to training and nutrition is NOT sexy and it is NOT revolutionary.

It is simple, it is progressive and it is consistent.

Why?

Because it works.

It really is that simple.

If the world of health & fitness has left you confused, if you are struggling to find an approach to nutrition that you can TRULY stick to (long term), if you have been misled and sold false hope by certain companies or individuals, or if you are always looking for the next big thing, perhaps you need to simplify your approach?

Give me a shout.

That’s all for today, until the time,

Guess how many days are left in 2016??

Standard

………….111.

That’s it.

Just under 70% of this year has gone!

Already!

It’s gone quick hasn’t it?!

Too quick!

We have just over 30% of 2016 left, before we know it we will be singing the ‘auld lang syne’ & ringing in 2017!!

If you cast your mind back to January, how did you start 2016?

Did you set any resolutions? Did you set any goals?

Perhaps something along the lines of a ‘New Year, New You’?

>How has that worked out for you?

>Have you done what you said you would do?

>Has this year been different?

>Are you on the path towards achieving what you TRULY desire?

I genuinely hope you are.

However, sadly a lot of people I see are still in the same position, facing the same obstacles, the same barriers, the same fears, and the same doubts as they were at the beginning of the year.

I get it, I understand that change can be scary…..

If you are struggling, I want to remind you today that there’s still time, and that you CAN achieve your goals. You can still turn this year around.

However, to do this something NEEDS to change.

If you are tired of ‘putting it off’, always ‘starting again on Monday’, self-sabotaging yourself, and generally beating yourself up….perhaps it’s time for a change?

If whatever ‘diet’ plan you have been following has been unstainable….perhaps it time for change?

If the world of training and nutrition has left you confused….then perhaps its time to try something different?

You CAN change, it’s NOT too late, you don’t have to write yourself off and give up on your goals.

That’s all for today, until the next time,

Tristan ‘111’ Buttle.

P.S – If you need anything please give me a shout, it’s never too late.
